51. Ego as Metacategory

Robotics for non-robotics majors?

Home Cooked Analysis will move forward using the Freudian concept of ego. As noted, Freud understood feedback and feedforward processes. They are many. How many? Ask Elon. Can he even count the number of feedback-feedforward systems on a Tesla? Well, probably. Now, think feedback-feedforward systems in our brains, in our bodies.

Enough said. To accurately describe these processes would force movement into seemingly unhuman mathematical minutiae. Note the use of the word ‘seemingly.’ Truth be told, it is human.

Sooo.. we will proceed with the use of the term ego with the understanding that it reflects attempts to understand observable outcomes of the performance of something akin to algorithms in robotics. Simultaneously? Sequentially? Akin? All of the above? I’m getting over my skis here so I’ll stop.

I will however note that self correcting (self healing) and self replication (reproduction) have been accomplished in robotics.

Ego functions become amazingly evident as we take note of attraction giving rise to selective inspiration, willed effort, adaptation, success and apparent pleasure in our now two year old children.
